Maggie Hunt, CADC II
Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor
Maggie Hunt has been an employee at Wallowa Valley Center for Wellness since 2000 and has over 20 years in the addiction’s treatment field. She is a level II certified addiction’s counselor for our Substance Use Disorder Program and is also certified in the treatment of problem gambling.
Maggie believes in a motivational stage-based approach to services and meeting people where they are at in their recoveries. She works with individuals, families and groups and uses an eclectic mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Person-centered Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, and psycho-education.
Maggie graduated from Portland State University with a degree in Liberal Arts and a major Spanish. She spent time living and traveling abroad where she studied Latin American Culture and Civilization while attending the University of Guanajuato, Mexico. She also attended Chemeketa Community College in Salem where she studied Criminal Justice Administration and Human Services.
Maggie currently divides her time at work providing direct service in addiction’s treatment, working as a member of the Assertive Community Treatment team, and in program planning and development. Maggie is also passionate about promoting Trauma Informed Care throughout the agency and is a member of a co-hort of trainers through Trauma Informed Oregon.
